Friday F.U.N.

Our last semester of pharmacy school is filled with tests and LOTS of group work. Seriously it takes over your life with all the group meetings. Lucky for us, our main project, in public health we had to create a video raising awareness to a public health topic, so that was a nice change of pace anyways.

Immediately we started planning. Laker Lover, Miss Artesia, and I wanted to do a fun video. We decided to remake the Spice Girls song Wanna Be. For those of you who are not aware of the song you can check out the original here. Our version is kind of silly, but was a lot of fun to do. Oh and a BIG shout out to You I Am for his help with vocals and editing! Seriously y'all he is awesome, go check out his music. Oh and did I mention he is also in med school right now. He is a rockstar! I hope y'all enjoy it and get a laugh out of it this beautiful Friday!

Miss Artesia's Birthday Gift

Miss Artesia's birthday was this past weekend! In preparation for this grand occasion, I decided to make her gift this year. Lucky for me I was actually on top of my game and remembered to take pictures along the way, so y'all can repeat the process if ya want. So here we go, step by step instructions on making a stacked cross similar to this one.

First thing you need to purchase the supplies: 1 large cross, 1 smaller cross, 1 letter, paint, accent paint, scrapbook paper, mod podge, and glitter of course.

Step 1: Paint the big cross your main color.

Step 2: Paint the edges of the smaller cross the accent color.

Step 3: Trace the smaller cross on the scrapbook paper and cut it out. Glue the paper on with mod podge.

Step 4: Paint the letter your main color. Then stack up the pieces & realize you don't like the colors you chose. Start planning how to fix this problem.

Step 5: Add the accent color on top of the letter with your desired painting technique that still allows the turquoise to peak thru. Realize you still do not like the color scheme and start planning how to fix this problem again.

Step 6: Remember that glitter solves almost all crafting problems & decide to add glitter. Cover the top surface of the letter with glue, then add the sparkles! I added a top coat of clear spray paint to help seal the glitter. Re-stack up the crosses and letter, realize hey you finally got what you wanted and glue everything together. VoilĂ  it is done! Enjoy your creation :)

Oh and if you are giving this as a birthday gift, adding a homemade card can be a nice touch!

Happy Wednesday friends!

Soldier's Angel: Letter Box

First off sorry for being MIA lately and this post has been a little delayed as well, my apologies!

This is by far my favorite Soldier's Angel box I have sent! As y'all heard, I was recruiting friends to help me write letters to send to my soldier and his medical unit. Lucky for me I have the best friends in the world and was able to recruit several letters to send! A big shout out to Laker Lover, Miss Artesia, My Little B, and Bob for getting me letters to send. I also wanted to thank A Desert Girl, Miss Football, and Lovely Country Mess for trying their best to make our schedules conicide to get me their letters as well!

Now on to the goodies! In my letter I received from my soldier he told me about the 5 other guys in his medical unit. I was already planning on sending him a box of letters for him to hand out to his unit, so when I heard about his medical team I thought, "PERFECT"! I was even able to get a list of their names, how cool was that? I was able to send 16 letters total in this box! I was thrilled!!

My cards! Not my best work, but they are all personalized at least.

For my contribution to the box I added an individual personalized cards to all 6 soldiers, along with an goodie bag for each, and fun stuff for them to share as well. This box included a bunch of stuff I enjoyed as a kid and thought would be good for them to all share around; Play-Doh, little sports balls, cards, dominos, dice, frisbee, pen and paper, and socks (well don't share these)! I also added a typed out letter on the top of the box explaining everything that was added and what not.

The soldier's individual goodie bags!
Something to keep your mind active, hands busy,
stomach full and mouth clean wherever you may be!
Laker Lover's cards!
The contents of the box, minus a few letters.
Up close picture of the goodies, minus the socks!
The day I left to go mail the box was kind of a hectic one, oh and it was also raining. Before I could mail the box I had to go pick up some socks to completely fill up the box. Lucky for me I was able to find a pack of 6 at Walgreens and killed two birds with one stone on my to do list. After I had the socks I was able to tape up the box and send it on its merry way. I don't know if y'all have ever tried to tape up a box in the driver's seat of a Nissan Altima, but it's not easy! Lucky for me I was able to get it done, and just as I was reaching for the customs form and my purse to go inside I realized I forgot to add my explanation letter. Crap! I had no other choice but to cut open the box and repeat the charade. I was able to get it done and run thru the rain to go mail the box! Thank goodness!

The box double taped up with ALL the letters included and ready to ship!

My soldier's deployment ends June 1, so I am sending my final care package in the next few weeks! If you missed out on the first rounds of letters or are interested in sending something in my "New Mexico Thanks You" care package let me know!

Hope you guys are having a lovely week!

A Entirely New Hairdo

As promised, an update on the new hairdo! Just a disclaimer to start with, these picture were taken each time Laker Lover asked how my hair was coming, so ignore the faces. :)

I have been wanting to redo my hair and had planned on adding in some turquoise. After I got the ok from High School BFF that it would be ok to have crazy hair in her wedding, I got a recommendation from Bob for the stylist I went to and he was fabulous! When I made my appointmnt, I informed them my plans and asked them to make sure they had turquoise in stock, he assured me they would.  Well the process got going and when he started putting on the color, I realized it was more teal than turquoise. So that means more green than blue, the one thing I did not want! Lovely. It ended up working out ok and I am happy with it, just not what I was expecting. I guess Laker Lover will have to touch up with turquoise whenever it fades. Lets just hope that it does not fade to a nasty green/yellow color! We cerntainly do not want that.

Part 1: Mixing up the colors.
Part 2: Color done, mixing up the teal.

Part 3: Setting the teal.
Part 4: Final Product!
Part 5: Mrs. Texas saw the above picture and said it was subtle,
so  I had to send her another side of it.

How do y'all like the new hair?

MIA

I am sure y'all are wondering what the heck I have been up to since I have left my poor blog all alone. Well life is C-R-A-Z-Y here lately! Let me just tell ya . . . Friday my High School BFF is getting married,  in a different state. So I have been trying to get everything ready for that. Not to mention take a test early, gather letters for my soldier box and send it, study for my test the following Monday, and all the essentials (hair, nails, tan, etc.) So please don't hate me or feel sorry for my blog for being abandoned. I will be back soon and will have a couple fun posts for y'all including the new hairdo and my awesome soldier box I sent today actually! :)

Hope y'all are having a great week!

Friday Funday

I truly believe laughter is the best medicine and since I could not think of anything humorous to share with y'all today I called on my good friend, Google! Since technology seems to be such a BIG part of our lives, here are a few of my favorite emoji conversations.

Have a GREAT weekend loves!

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for so many things . . .

1. Tomorrow is Friday and I get to actually have a weekend this time! It is the absolute worst when you have Monday tests because you have to spend all weekend studying and the next week is super long!

2. George Strait concert is tomorrow as well!! Did I mention he is on his final tour and Martina McBride is opening up for him? Yes thats right, good-bye tour, in my town, & I. AM. GOING! Be jealous :)

3. Saturday I am gettin' my hair didddddd. This one I have been looking to all week, I will post pictures soon!

4. One week from today I will be leaving the city for High School BFF's wedding! Homegirl will have her hair done, nails did, and spray tan applied! I cannot wait! It is going to be a blast and I can't wait to share this special day with her.

5. Only 36 days left of my academic career. Can I get a Whoohooo?!?

6. I have the best friends and family that has offered to help with soldier's angel letters. Y'all are the best. End of discussion.

7. Despite the test on Monday and pointless group assignments, this week has been terrific so far!

8. The small things in life that I am able to find joy in. I found a new background for my phone and every time I see it, it puts me in a better mood. It is crazy how something so small can change so much.

9. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous this week!

10. You. Yes you, you that are reading my blog right now. Thank you for stopping by, whether it is daily or just this once, I appreciate it and hope you are enjoying your time.

We are almost to the weekend, hang in there dolls!

The Beginning of the End

Have you ever had that one moment in time when something completely insignificant happens, but it completely changes everything? Well this seems to be happening a lot lately. Most recently we got our rotation schedule for our fourth year of pharmacy school, and I swear it snuck up on me. I know it is one of the moments that I have been waiting for since I started pharmacy school, but when Wednesday came last week and we got our schedules it finally sunk in how fast the past few years have passed.

Of course after it sank in that I only have 6 weeks of classes left and I will be starting my fourth, FOURTH year of pharmacy school in about two months, I was so relieved. Granted, my fourth year won't be a walk in the park, but it will be a nice change of scenery. No more long days spent at the library and late nights spent at Village Inn. No more weekend plans canceled because "we have a test on Monday" or beautiful days spent indoors wishing I was outside not studying.

It also means, no more living with Laker Lover (who I have pretty much lived with for the past 4 years). No more movie marathon days, or late night hair dying extravaganzas. No more seeing my friends almost every day, or ability to use the excuse of "I am still in collge, I don't have a future plan yet."

In two months, I will start transferring out of one chapter of my life and starting a new one. Granted, I am not officially done with school, but for the most part I will be working in a pharmacy five days a week and starting more of a "regular" schedule. I will be able to get my life back into a routine and schedule again. (My type A personality is loving this part!) I will be phasing out of my college days and beginning to start my grown up days.

That means the future is just around the corner. The day I have been looking forward to since I started college, graduation, is less than 14 months away. So between now and then, I have my work cut out for me. I have some serious decisions ahead of me: Where do I want to live? What type of pharmacy do I want to practice? How many states do I need to apply for licenses in? Not to mention all the smaller things I need to do between now and then. As nerve racking as some of this may be, I can't help but be excited! The only thing I have to say to that is, bring it on!
